25 Jul JAMEOS DEL AGUA, THE BEST SHOWCASE IN THE WORLD
The ‘Lanzarote Fashion Weekend’ will give international exposure to this tourist centre as an appealing venue for events.
Jameos del Agua was César Manrique’s first creation, a place that is unique in the world, and that the artist from Lanzarote was able to envision, with his particular genius. The inside of a volcanic tube that was caused by Volcán de la Corona. This tunnel is known to be six kilometres long, and 1.5 km is underwater. That part is called Túnel de la Atlántida.

Jameos del Agua at night, Lanzarote
Custo Dalmau thought about this venue to hold the ‘Lanzarote Fashion Weekend’ from the get go. When he talks about Jameos del Agua, the renowned designer has nothing but praise. “I hadn’t visited Jameos for a long time, and the other day when I came back, it seemed even more impressive that the last time I was here. How many places in the world can we say that about? How many places are there like Lanzarote? I’ve travelled the world and I’ve seen few places like the ones we can see on this island”, he said determinedly.
It is precisely for that reason that Jameos del Agua has become the place chosen by Custo to hold this important initiative. César Manrique successfully managed to have and impact on those visiting the centre as they go up the spiral staircase into the volcanic bubble, Jameo Grande, 100 metres long and 30 metres wide. People then overlook at the stunning garden in the midst of a volcanic landscape and the appealing pristine blue pool. Manrique built two bars in the large hollow areas of the rocks, and the dance floors bear witness to Jameos’ night club and disco. At the end of Jameo Grande, in the area leading to Volcán de la Corona, there is a concert hall at an angle with astonishing architectural features and acoustics. Concerts and theatre and ballet performances are held there. At the bottom of the cave there is a large stage, that goes on up to the next and last bubble that can be accessed by visitors: Jameo de la Cazuela, with salt water at the edge of the rock, as if it were a water spring in the mountains. In Jameos, visitors can also see the tiny white and blind crabs, sensitive to noise, movement and light, which have become the symbol of this centre.

Custo Barcelona in Jameos del Agua
Jameos del Agua was already a sophisticated place back in the day when César was alive, glamorous parties were held there, and disco nights literally meant that. Now, at the hand of another genius, Custo Dalmau, this place is going to be seen by the world as the best spot to organise exclusive events.
In May, during the celebration of the ‘Lanzarote Fashion Weekend’, hundreds of journalists, designers, influencers and people connected to the world of fashion from all over the world, will get the chance to discover the incredible landscapes of Lanzarote and the stunning surroundings of Jameos del Agua. A unique showcase to show the world a magnificent place.
